We are continuing to develop the systems and everyday practices that support responsible construction. The commitments below describe principles we consider and work toward; they do not represent third-party certification unless explicitly stated.

Using resources with care

We aim to use materials thoughtfully and reduce avoidable waste. When converting a suitable shipping container, adapting the existing shell can extend its useful life and reduce the need for an entirely new frame.

  • Consider responsibly sourced timber and durable finishes.

  • Use insulation, double glazing and efficient lighting where appropriate.

  • Plan off-site work to improve material control and reduce disruption.

  • Explore solar and lower-energy technology where suitable.

  • Design for longevity, maintenance and continued use.

Planning work with safety in mind

Safety considerations are part of how we plan workshop activities, transport, and installation. We aim to identify foreseeable risks, communicate responsibilities and use preventive controls appropriate to the task.

  • Consider applicable CDM duties and site responsibilities.

  • Use task-specific risk assessments and method statements where required.

  • Encourage training, toolbox talks and clear site communication.

  • Report and review hazards, near misses and changing conditions.

Working honestly and responsibly

We expect fair, respectful and lawful conduct. As our supply chain develops, we aim to strengthen how we consider labour practices, responsible sourcing and ethical conduct.

  • Do not tolerate forced labour, trafficking, child labour, bribery or harassment.

  • Consider ethical conduct when appointing suppliers and trade partners.

  • Encourage concerns to be raised and addressed without retaliation.

  • Support fair competition and transparent commercial relationships.

Consistent attention from brief to handover

We build quality checks into each stage and work with suitably qualified specialists when regulated work or professional approval is required.

  • Consider Building Regulations and planning requirements where applicable.

  • Seek structural engineering input when required.

  • Use appropriately competent electrical, gas and plumbing specialists.

  • Review workmanship and agreed requirements before handover.
